Red Bull - Speed Jam

Production company, innovision, brought the Red Bull Speed Jam street karting event to Cardiff in September. With Simon in Event Control and Herb out on the ground the karts fought it out on the closed roads around the Welsh Millennium Centre. The crowd enjoyed the exciting finals following local heats held around the country over the summer. As well as top flight karting, the audience had the opportunity to see Red Bull's F1 car driven by Mark Webber and Daniel Ricciardo in the Red Bull Nascar.

Street racing and high performance cars will always produce challenges, and TESS has experience of similar events to call on, including Formula 1 cars doing their stuff in Regent Street, London.

But safety management is not always about the obvious hazards. Planning for this event included many safety advisory group meetings with the local authority and the police as well as a lot of liaison with local businesses who had to balance the closure of roads with the increased visitor numbers. Experience in large scale public event production certainly helped TESS play their part in resolving these additional issues.
