Abu Dhabi Science Festival

Mike Herbert returned to Abu Dhabi to oversee safety during the Abu Dhabi Science Festival, produced in collaboration with the Edinburgh International Science Festival. Attractions included the Dino Dig, Unwrapping the Mummy and Jungle Safari.
Things were off to a flying start with the main venue reaching capacity within one hour of opening its doors. In the days that followed, many of the shows were fully booked day and night with school groups, families and the public in general, eager to experience this exciting new event.
Spread over two sites and nine days, the fair attracted 100,000 visitors, nearly double the number anticipated by the organisers. Mike spent most of his time advising on crowd management to keep the visitors moving inside the venue as well as dealing with queues of eager children and their parents waiting outside.
